Yeah? Have a look at the pics in THIS THREAD/POST ...scroll down the the 4th and 4th picture. Then tell me what a "bad choice" Dexcool has been for that 23 year old radiator....

True. Do we know he didn't pull the block drains?

Ah, non ELC coolant should be changed annually -which no one does and thus we see "my car is overheating" and "Heater core replacement" threads all the time, on here.
Dexcool (and most other ELC coolant) can go for 5 years....and there is the benefit of Dexcool in anyone's '91; less maintenance and/or better protection. Ford supposedly has a 20 year coolant out now. I'm keen.
Are Corvettes more prone to overheating than other cars? I rarely open my coolant system in any of my cars, and anytime I've had to replace hoses, thermostats, etc, coolant looks clean even after years.
Personally I'm a big proponent on using the orange Prestone DexCool. It can go longer between changes and has a better anticorrosive package. HOWEVER it is very veryimportant that you completely flush you're cooling system if it is using anything other than DexCool. If you mix DexCool and regular antifreeze it's going to turn into brown sludge and clog yout radiator and cooling channels, so you have to get all of the old stuff out. That either means removing the knock sensors to get to the drain plugs and flushing with a garden hose or pulling the t-stat, putting the housing back on, hooking a shop-vac up to it and sticking a garden hose into the other end to pull all of the old coolant out.
As for leak-stop pellets, just don't. Fix whatever is leaking the right way instead of dumping metal and sludge into your cooling system.
We've actually seen the opposite in our machinery at work.
I just purchased a 40k 95 convertible with LT-1,
as I am going through the car with new FSM I bought the dex cool antifreeze recommended in the FSM and then noticed the coolant in the car is green and looks new, it appears the previous owner? Changed to green stuff so I will return the dex coil to advance auto (after the hurricane) and put the green stuff back into it after changing out opti spark, injectors and pcm if necessary.
still acquiring tools and diagnostic skills, anyone have a code reader recommendation for a obd2 dlc and the obd1 computer, and a good injector tester? I want to avoid terminal damage using a paper clip.
Received via eBay a snap on m2500 scanner,
reading the instructions after checking the contents all cables and accessory’s are there,
will be trying out tomorrow
