I noticed that the inner chrome extensions on my new Corsa system are constantly turning black with carbon after a few day of driving. Is this typical of Corvettes, or do I have "richness" problem that needs to be addressed?
And why just the "inside tips? The outer ones are clean as a whistle.
not sure if you noticed but only one of your tips is open, the other is a cosmetic "dummy tip" the black carbon is fairly normal if it's just a light coating.

This a reply I received from Corsa when I had a question about cleaning the tips
Robert,
Thank you for the purchase and inquiry. The inner tips show the majority of the build-up due to our pressure specific design around the diameter of the pipe within the muffler. As pressure builds in the system (i.e.. wide open throttle) all four tips then become more effective. To keep them clean, we usually recommend spraying the tips with a mild solvent like a Simple Green or 409, then finishing with a liquid wax or polish. I hope this is of help and as always feel free to ask if you have further questions.
Enjoy!

Gee, I don't know what to tell ya, guy. If you remember not shortly after I got this car, everyone was on my back about wanting to "baby" it and not "mess it up" since it was a low-mileage ex-concourse show car.
So, I decided to go ahead and drive it. I've been driving it ever since. Hell, if it snows, I'll keep in in the garage until it melts, then drive it some more. You sound like I was, putting your baby into "hibernation" like that.
I thought about ya while I was out there today, with the wind blowing through my hair (what hair I have left), a little Aerosmith on the CD player. Even saw 4 other vettes, two drivers waved, two couldn't have cared less.
Even had time enough to put on a coat of Zaino #5 and #2. (Gotta rub it in while I can, "pun definitely intended", hahaha).
I clean mine every time I wash the vette. Once a week or so. No problem with built up carbon. The exhaust system is getting a bit loud afer being on for about one year. Still sounds great to me. (another Corsa owner heard from).
