Any of you guys use one of these? Its been a while since i did this job and i cant remember how to tilt it greater then the jack will allow. If i drop the od pan to the rear its way off balance. Maybe a 2x4 under the front.
I have a HF. Trans jack.
ZF is very heavy. Unlike my previous F- body T5 simply bench press up in..
The jack is slightly rickety. I used anything to balance. Gain positive contact on the trans.
May need to fab additional brackets onto your jack..
Like yourself. i secured with small ratchet strap.
Once you get the trans stable. Simply use the X / Y angle adjustments on the Jack to locate Ye Ole pilot bearing. Simply roll inward to seat. Send it.. Home run..
Sorry looks like you have a cart style.
I have a adjustable jack style.
I used that exact jack when doing the clutch work with my ZF. I had no trouble with it. I did not use the strap however so I could angle it manually…I think the key is to find the balance point of the trans so you can tilt on that pivot point when needed. I did use the angle setting and maxed it out on removal then and to get it into the tunnel then flattened it as I went to install.
Just be careful not to let it drop on you when not strapping it. Once it’s up in the tunnel, the tunnel helps with this. Although you have that OD pan to contend with.
I also see no issue “shimming” it with some wood or otherwise.
