I use this cam with large tube runners and base, r/r , exhaust etc. I like this combo :D I have gone 12.84@108 in my 90 auto coupe. i use 113 ported heads and the lt4 springs with no issues i do not rev it above about 5200 rpm
My best ever 60 ft was 1.89 most are 1.91 to 1.95
I have just fitted headman headers and a converter and it feels like a different car easy 12.5's i think
They are ASM runners which are the same ones tpis sells but $100 cheaper
My best 1/8 time is 8.11@86mph it pulls hard upto about 90mph c5's are easy from a standing start, but i guess we would be equal from say 50mph upto 100mph after that i think i would get left behind but i don't know for sure.
This is before my latest mods which i have not tested at the track yet.
The zz4 is relatively mild cam compared to the 219, 211 or zz9 cams. It would work fin even with a stock TPI c4. You will need valve springs to handle the addition liuft of the cam, though
"Is it a good combo to install a ZZ4 cam in a ported TPI setup. With headers, and 1,5rr. And what springs to use with that cam?"
Whats your toughts? Will the TPI choke the hell out of it?
Thanks..
I'm using the ZZ4 cam in my L98, with a ported plenum, ASM large tube runners and an Accel big mouth base. Since the ZZ4 uses the Corvette 113 casting heads I thought it would be a perfect match and it was. I rebuild the heads to ZZ4 specs using LT4 springs, caps, shims, and topped it off with 1.5 Crane Gold Race Rockers.
The TPI might choke it off a bit, but once I finish opening the intake (K&N, cut lid, modified MAF) I don't expect there to be problem. The car runs incredibly strong with this combo and the stock chip.
Long tube headers are going on shortly and then with a new chip I'm expecting quite an improvement over an already good thing.
I am using an Ed wright "Mail" custom chip at the moment. Runs nice but i will be investing in some scanning software soon to see if it can be improved.
I have no issues at all, but i just can't leave it alone in case i am missing a 10th or 2 :D
