Default 1/4"" plate behind master cylinder

Is this plate supposed to be between my master cylinder & brake booster?
I've been having to press hard on the brakes to stop, just checking every possibility.
I don't remember if it came with the MC or the booster.
Car is rarely driven & my memory is fading.
It's an 84.

Thanks

That does not look factory to me. My 85 does not have one.

The plate wouldn't change your effort but your peddle hight would. If you're needing to press hard you either have a problem with the booster or it's vacuum supply.

Getting back to the spacer I seem to remember some cars having them, so removing it would probably leave your brake pedal high leaving brakes on.
. you should have around an inch then brakes should apply making a difference and locked up well before the floor
. Will admit that the spacer and the booster are both not factory so spacer might have to do with aftermarket booster

Hey thanks guys.
I took a ride, checked the temperature of each caliper , 3 of them were 90 degrees & the drivers side rear was 160.
So I got it apart but the piston is froze.
Tomorrow I will figure out how to get the piston out, it's probably corroded beyond repair.
Thanks for figuring out the spacer, (aftermarket booster).

I've not seen a spacer behind a brake master. There is one behind a clutch master cylinder.
