To All... New to this forum but hope to get some help. I have an 1988 corvette and at some point the car will not crank over. It has come down to it being an issue with the vat system. If I disconnect the battery and let it sit for 15 -20 minutes and then reconnect the battery it will start right up no issue. What I would like to know is there a way to put a resister (150 ohms) in the fuse panel to fool the car into thinking that there is always a key in the ignition. And if so where do I install it? Hope someone out there can help. Thanks

I recently bypassed mine with a plug in bypass from zip corvette. It was under $30 and worked fine. Need to find a 2 wire connection under the steering column, unplug it and then plug this one in . I don't remember the wire colors off hand but it was easy to find.
Tom... First thank you for responding to my query. Have now watched a few youtube vids about doing the installation... looks easy enough. I have taken this car to several mechanics but none of them were able to find the issue till the last guy about 10 years ago. He died before he could do the repair but I will take the shot. Again thank you for the help I was starting to pull my hair out.
There’s also a big relay for VATS Starter Lockout behind the RH Center Upper dash. Mine’s bypassed as it was a failure mode of the VATS system. Properly crimped good quality butt splice with heat shrink is the best method, and basically splice the heavy gauge green wire to the heavy gauge yellow wire at the relay. This will not help if you have a VATS issue (as the VaTS also sends a signal to the ECM) It’s a heavy gauge wire going to the starter almost directly, and not sure but the clutch switch may be bypassed also.
