Why would this be bypassed?

Default Why would this be bypassed?

1986, was looking under the dash and seen this, anyone know what this is and why it would be bypassed?

I'm certain that is the clutch safety switch.
PO jumped to allow starting the car.
If you pull the jumper. I'm sure the car will not start.
Google search has this part/ connector all wrong.
One 84 C4 vid has it correct.

I have the same on my 86. It came that way from the previous owned. I gave the thought of changing the switch about two seconds after finding where it is located.

Brutal truth. Very confined space even removing the DS seat.
You will not complete this. ta do. in 5 min.
The bad. You can start the car with the clutch engaged.
Do not ever use a remote trigger diagnosis.
Or you will test your endurance chasing down.
