Default 96 smelly exhaust

My 96 lt1 smells sweet when you stand behind it. Bad take off doesn’t run real good at high rpm’s . Wants to die some times. New plugs wires opti. Could this be my cat’s. 130,000 miles. The cats look to be original. Everything j have changed is original lol. Love the car bought it with a 110,000 from second owner. He bought it with 80,000 said all he did was put new fuel pump tires and kept up with oil changes. So I’m pretty sure cats haven’t been changed or mufflers…..

Is it using coolant, does it have condensation smoke coming from exhaust. Have you pulled any spark plugs and noticed if any are super clean while some might be oily. Normally most plugs with some milage will be clean with grey/brown tint

A sweet smell would alarm me, glycol coolant will smell sweet. I'd look at the oil and see if theres coolant in it, or vice versa.

Plugs are new old ones looked good . No smoke anywhere oil looks good . Doesn’t smell like coolant more like brimstone or maybe a box of matches. I had just changed a o2 sensor because it was throwing code for the sensor behind the cat. Now I’m getting the code again for the same o2 sensor. I’m getting code 0441 and 0157. I know I need to replace the charcoal canister but if the same o2 sensor behind the cat keeps going bad I’m thinking it has to be a bad cat somewhere lol . I mean 26 years and 130,000 miles . I have changed so much stuff on this thing just want to drive it a while with no issues and the power it should have. Some times it will start to spin a tire and others barely wants to come out the hole

Plugged up cat will kill all acceleration, you would probably see it glowing

Sulfur smell? It’s running rich. O2 code is saying same thing if it’s 0144.
Cat will be running hot.
I’d think leaky injector(s), bad coolant temp sensor, flooded evap canister.

I was reading one code says incorrect air flow I believe would that be from the charcoal e vap canister? I checked to see if I was getting any charcoal in the lines but don’t see anything. My gas mileage seems to be ok. Fuel injectors are original 26 years 130,000 not bad lol have new ones coming figure I will order charcoal canister next. Like I had said everything is original. Having to change peace by peace.
