Default Thoughts on some codes...

1993 Base model.

I have headers, cat delete, and replaced the stock resonator with a Magnaflow X unit, then out through the stock exhaust. I have a chip from EMCofNC adjusting the cooling fan (on @180) and eliminating all smog (including EGR), and the post cat 02 sensors--headers were installed AFTER I had the chip, so the chip is not programed for the new exhaust (things on my list to do;-). I had a Petris vented Opti installed almost 2 years ago. New rear gears and a shift kit, but I don't think that's relevant.

I'm getting H16 and H32 from the 4 module (Eng mag). The 32 confuses me as I've had the EGR programmed out of the prom? The mechanic who stripped the smog and installed the headers didn't use the EGR block plate I gave him, could that be it? looks lite the tube is just pinched off at the back of the intake. The Check lite has only come on twice, both times after a long highway drive (2 plus hours) then slowing down into city driving for a bit. The Lite always goes out after I shut off the engine. The 16 is concerning as the Opti is so new and Petris had a good rep. I'm thinking when the mechanic installed the headers, maybe he fudged with the opti connector to the main harness. The mechanic who originally installed the opti knew C3-4's inside out-- but unfortunately passed away. Both codes only showed up after the header install. Or maybe moisture (but its vented)-- anyone had a Petris fail so quickly (I've put about 2500-3k miles on the car since the installation)

I'm shooting around town--zoom zoom-- no lite. The car runs fine, lite on or not. Like I said, only came on twice in the last 2 months.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Ronn

Seems like the 32 wasn't properly disabled in the tune.

H16 opti low pulse. Possible harness connector. Pinched.
According to all.. the petris opti is good as OE.
If this is a fact. 2 years 3k. is much to low to fail.
The original opti. Typically survives 150+k.

Impossible to trigger H32 if the EGR diag.
was in fact un- checked in the ECM constants table.
Did your tuner show, print, txt. the EGR diag unchecked.

Crafty. why a mechanic would do inferior hack work pinching the EGR tube. Possibly leaking exhaust.
Especially if you provided the simple block- off.

Right?!?!?!? Why I don't use him anymore.

PCMofNC sent me an email with the info, I'll look it up and double-check.

Thanks for the help everyone!
