Default 1/4 Mile Times

I have an 85 with a ton of mods, DRM went throught the motor in the early 90s. The car then sat until 99. I bought the car blind folded, loaded it up on the trailer. At that point I only knew that the car had headers and 315 XTGs all the way around. This I thought was a bit odd due to the 9.5 in Z-51 wheels that were on the car.
Mods include:
All of the free mods you can think of.
LT headers
No Cat
Stock looking aftermarket mufflers
2800 stall
Dana 44 w/ 3:54 gears
Shift kit
DRM MAF
Ported plenum
Big runners
52mm TB
Base???
1.60, 2.02 Iron GM heads Ported(which have now been discontinued)
Comp. ratio?
8mm silicon plug wires
Mild Cam (no clue on the specs)
Hypertech Chip (if that even helps)

The car seems to be very fast... Even seems to make power over 5000rpm. The engine loves to rev.. Revs over well over 6 grand. (I have been beating the poopie out of it, looking for a reason to rebuild.)

Well, any how, I had a G-tech laying around. So me and my father went out in the country and made some runs. The G-teck claimed 4.8 sec 0-60 (spinning in first and second) and 12.80 1/4 mile times at 108 mph.

Are these G-techs way off? Or am i just underestimating a moded TPI setup... and actually have a high 12s or mid 12s car with DRs.

Do any of you guys have any clue what heads could be on the car?

And any clue as to what kind of a cam DRM might have installed?

With these mods what would a custom chip to for me?

Any feed back would be great.

I cant help you much, but it is my understanding that you should not pay much attention to the mph on the G-teck, but that the 1/4 time is fairly close, assuming you have done the proper calibration.

I think the way I heard it is... time = reads a tad low
mph = reads a tad high

(I dont know what a "tad" is though)

Youll really have to go to the track and get some precise times for us to be able to tell. I cant tell if thats good or bad for your setup without knowing more about the cam.

I have an older magazine that got a L98 in the 12's with bolt-on's and cam. Actually used stock heads. So I believe you could have a 12 sec car.

I have a 87 and want to get it in the 12's. It would help me a lot if you tell me what magazine and month you saw it in.

Thanks :)

He was right, G-Tech is about .1 off on ET, and about 5 mph on Trap speed.

The boy's at DRM know their poopie! It probally a really nice motor, I'd take care of it. You can also call DRM and ask them for the rundown on your ride.

Piece out!
