Hi all I have a 1986 corvette with no injector pulse. After testing several things and then rechecking them again as per factory service manual it leads to a bad ECU. Now for the issue. Nobody has any for sale and I need to get recommendations on a rebuild service. I don’t know which ones I search are reputable. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
1986-1989 Corvettes used the same ECM, so you don't have to just look for an 86. You might check our local AutoZone or Oreilly. I was able to get a rebuilt one from Oreilly a few years ago.
SIA Electronics in IL seems to have a good track record for testing and repairing ECMs. If it's the ECM, it may just be the injector driver on the board that's bad, and I bet that can be fixed.
So is the 85 ECU different from the 86 and if so how do you know you are getting the right one from a parts store like rockauto or...is it just the eprom that makes it work for the car. ie the circuit boards are the same for all early injected C4's?
85 is different from 86. To be sure get the part number off if your computer but it is well documented on the internet what the part number are for all different years.
