Every time I shut my door lately after arming the security system on my '88 coupe, the alarm goes off.:cuss Seems to do it more often when it's cold out. In the past when this has happened, I just opened and closed the passenger door and the hatch.:hurray: This is no longer working. Every time I shut the damn door, my horn starts beeping.:banghead:
I think it might have something to do with my hatch, what do you guys think?
Non electrical tests:
First, see if they are moving freely(not sticking in up or down position, etc.)
Second, make sure the wires are hooked up.
Third, Unscrew them one at a time leaving them hooked up and test each one by setting the alarm while you hold them closed.
This should allow you to locate the problem 90% of the time. :smash:
Sweet, thanks a bunch 92TripleBlack, most appreciated. I have verified that the switches still work, and are hooked up. What I did was hold the buttons down on the door switches while my girlfriend set the alarm and closed the drivers door like normal. Still sets off the alarm. Same for the hatch, I had the hatch open and pushed the pin for it, and the alarm still went off.
MUAHAHAHAHA, figured it out. My hatch switch was not making constant contact for some reason. It had enough pressure on it to not light up the hatch light in the DIC, but when I closed the door, the pressure would lift the hatch enough to open the switch and trip the alarm.
It always mekes me happy to figure out the little annoyances.
