Default '96 Differential Vent???

Can someone tell me where the differential vent is on a '96 CE LT4? Buddy's Vette developed a sudden, big pinion seal leak and we want to make sure the vent isn't plugged.

Top of the rear cover near the 'right' side bolt that retains cover to the differential. This linked image should work. My NOS rear covers are boxed and not close. If you've still questions I can get a snapshot of a NOS GM rear cover for you.

I'm JimArn's buddy and see the vent in the picture. Thanks I appreciate the help. I can't see the vent from under the car, though. I'll probably need a mirror to get a look at it. Is it accessible with the rear assembly in the car? What kind of contraption is it and how does it come apart for inspection?

You should be able to feel it for sure and it's a typical vent used by GM for many years. GM# 3738462. Of course no longer serviced by GM but there should be others that you could use if it was an issue.

How does it install? Is it possible to replace it with differential in place? Thanks for your help. Jim
