Default ASR bracket bolt

Team,

The bracket that holds the ASR assembly is loose. When I try to tighten up the bolt, it simply spins. I assume there is a nut inside the chassis.

How do I get to it?

Is there a provision in the frame rail for an M8 -1.25 (Fold-over/J-nut/U-nut) to slip into the rail? Just a couple examples:

I assumed you were talking about this bracket maybe:

WVZR-1,

My issue is with the bolt #13. It's loose and can get it to tighten up or loosen up

That is I'm quite sure an M8 - 1.25 thread bolt. I'd look closely for maybe a J-nut of sorts or maybe it is a 'nut-sert'. To remove it I'd think you could insert something between the bracket and rail to maintain tension while loosening. Replace with something that suits you after removal. With tension applied it's very possible it might 'catch' and loosen/remove easily.

Wouldn't I be able to get to the nut if I remove the inner fender?
I tried the tension thing a few months back by pulling on the bracket... No dice. I'll wedge something and see what happens.

Thank you!

You could remove inner fender panel and look. If it's actually a 'nut-sert' then it's quite possibly the 'nut-sert' spinning and that would certainly create a more difficult removal. Some one with a '92+ that has ASR might know now that you've actually ID'd which bolt you actually were referencing.

Sounds good. I'll take a look behind the inner fender.

Thanks a lot.

Team,

No dice. I removed the inner fender. No access to the nut or clip nut. There is no access from the bottom, or either side.
There is an access hole by the other bolt, but couldn't get a good picture of what's in there.

Post 3) WVZR-1 provided a basic ASR parts diagram.
Rremesal. States.
bolt "13" holding down bracket (14)
This directly bolts to the front frame rail.

Captured from my 94 parts car.
My specific photo. 7" before mentioned bolt "13" Exactly the same as my clear photo.

Rremesal, you need to pry up on bracket 14 to create pressure. Hopefully enough to release bolt 13 appears, threaded insert. weld. let loose.
Last resort drilling the bolt out.
