Default Fuel pump

Hello and Happy New Year to you all,

I am cleaning up my fuek system. New pump, filter and I blew air through the lines. Eventually I will be installing the New BOSCH III injectors.
I installed the fuel pump turned on the key, NO Fuel. I pull the pump and drop it into a gallon of gas. It does not pump. Then I get the old pump drop it into a gallon of gas and it pumps. I bring the Delphi Technologies pump back to Pep Boys. They replace it. I dump it into a gallon of gas put power on it and nothing.
What am I doing wrong?

Thank you all

Orginal pump has power.
Two new pumps. NO power.
Failure at the FP power connector or windings.
Possible stretched connector pin.

Unfortunately you learned both new pumps are bad.
Be. Thankfull. C4 NO need to remove exhaust, bracing a full tank of gas and more.

I tested the pumps with leads alligator clipped to the pins. After the first one failed. I figured I would test it before putting it in the car

I did check the voltage at the alligator clips. But, if there is a voltage problem. Why would the other pump run. The old and new both require 12 volts. But I did check it. Thank you

Understood. You, cross validated 12v at test lead.
Old pump. not only has 12v also supplies fuel as designed.

Are you positive the original FP has a problem.?
Did you experience pressure deficiencies at the rail.?

I was shocked when the old pump worked. This has become a real nightmare. I still need to change the injectors, OMG

Several years ago when my stock pump failed I purchased a Delphi replacement. The Delphi was junk, wouldn't hold pressure at full throttle and it also would not hold pressure with the ignition switch off. It would immediately drop to zero psi. Napa is where I purchased it and they would not take it back since it was used and submersed in fuel.
I replaced it with a Deatschwerks pump from Summit Racing and it has been working great for many years now..
I have had very bad luck with Delphi for pumps and sensors. I won't bother with them anymore.

Thank you. When I started this repair a few people said they favors Delphi. I thought I did something wrong when the first one failed. Then the other one failed. I was surprised. If I didn't have the old pump. I was sure I did something wrong.

Few years ago I replaced the original fuel pump (30 years old), with a new Delco one. It lasted less than 3 years.

It's such a shame. Like they say. " They don't build it like they once did"
