A former owner of my son's 1990 Coupe ran a manual switch to allow for turning the cooling fans on. The problem is he ran it under the "windlace" weatherstripping in the front of the driver's door hinge. We're going to be re-doing the weatherstripping here shortly and having that running through there will create a channel for water to run in. It's a nice modification to have, so I'd rather just clean up the installation than eliminate it.
Does anyone know if there's a convenient point to run a wire through the firewall? Is there already a grommet somewhere with enough free space to pull something through or poke/drill a new hole? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. We ended up removing the fender panel and battery to take a look. I popped another hole through the grommet for the driver's side airbag crash sensor since it was plenty oversized and in a good location. I considered going for the cruise control one, but the vacuum hoses are all a bit brittle with age and I didn't want to disturb them and have to run new lines right away.

Amazingly, this grommet seems like the one piece of rubber on this car that's NOT totally brittle. I pushed a small awl through it to make a hole to pull the wire and found to my consternation that it self-sealed it back up when I removed the awl. Eventually managed to get the wire through and it's quite a good seal around it - no additional RTV needed.
