Rough Idle
Just changed the oil, ran the car around the block and check engine light is on. Rough Idle at 500rpm. Anyone has any idea what it can be?? I don't have a code scanner to investigate the problem. Just got the car out of the shop a few weeks 1.5 weeks ago !! It just turn 50k too !! Any thoughts are much appreciated. I would like to know what the problem can be before i take it to the dealer.

It was in the shop for a rear leaf spring that busted. Where can i get one of those code scanners that everyone seems to use? How much should i pay for one of those things. I can't really give more details. It only idles rough and there doesn't seem to be any other problems besides that. I was wondering whats the most common failure for a problem like this? It almost doesn't matter.....i'm just going to bring it to the dealer tomorrow morning.

Do the easy stuff like check for a plug wire burnt or fouled plug. Also look for a vacuum leak which all of whitch will cause rough a idle. I bought a Auto xry from Kragen for about $150 which makes life easier as it gives you real time data along with trouble codes.
