Default Fuel pump recommendations?

Had the engine apart for the past year or two, and the fuel pump seems to have seized up/gummed up during the non-use. It's an '84, but I've been running an LT1 pump for several years as I'm running a turbo and the larger TBI unit off a 454. Looking for a decent pump again, very preferably not made in a third world country. I'd appreciate input here on a pump brand that will do the job, and that I can be confident of it having some durability.

Thanks!
Mike

Anything from TI should do you well. Several choices and TI is also Walbro!

I'm using Racetronix parts, I bought my Walbro from them. They have their own brand/label now.

Racetronix looks good to me too.
They also offer some fuel pump wiring upgrades.

In my opinion, the Bosch 044 (0 580 254 944 full part #) pump is a better option than the racetronix/walbro setup. Google Bosch 044 and you'll see that it's highly regarded. And, yes, it operates in tank just fine.

Didn't you mean 0 580 254 044 for a part #? That involves substantially more $$$ than the TI product that will get the job done but it certainly is a quality product. I'd certainly consider it vs the Racetronix for a strictly performance application maybe. There are 'counterfeit' product for that also it seems. I won't post a link to any of the Bosch product but there's for sure some interesting reads!

When I swapped my pump I went with a deatschwerks 255... main reason was it's quiet... been in a few cars with the walbro unit and they're loud. Annoyingly loud to me.

sorry for the typo, yes part # ends in 044. Looks like they don't make that one anymore but have an updated part. It might be overkill, but i saw turbo and reliable, and this would fit the bill. Otoh, if he's still running tbi, that's a low pressure system, would he be better off spec-ing a more suitable high volume low pressure pump for less $$$?

I guess I got lucky. I just bought one at Autozone for my 96 a couple of years ago and it works fine. Dan

Any idea how much power you're making? Knowing how much horsepower the pump needs to support gives us more info for pump suggestions.
