Hey all, I'm searching an posting on a few boards and need opinions please.
Well my battery that I got on January 13 (karma) decided to belch out some acid fluid out the vent and onto my 91. I was lucky that I was just giving my car its weekly inspection when I noticed the fluid.
It sure could have been worse but fortunately, only a few wires are located under the battery. I cleaned up the drips, removed the battery tray and cleaned it mess with soap and water. I'll do one more tomorrow for good measure.
So.... I just got burned with a lead acid battery leak so I'd like to go with an AGM. I've just started my research and not finding too much that seems to fit C4s. I have an Optima AGM in my C5, but they don't seem to be making them anymore according to their web site.
Are there any recommendations for a AGM that will work well with our cars? I'd love to stop by a parts store tomorrow morning so I can take her out later.
Thanks Army Byrd, I like the optima solution and you did a great job of modifications. However, I'm not nearly as creative as you and would need a more simple solution.
Anything approaching "plug and play" side a side, cable option?

It is plug and play-even used the factory battery hold down.
The later C4s can not take a top Post Battery only a side Posts. Not sure what year my 90 can and my 96 can not. The Optima can be had in many configurations as can many other Batteries. They have our C4s well covered for plug and play.
Well, after a week of some reasonable searching, I'm not coming up with any AGM batteries (group 75) for our cars. I'm "stuck" going back to the lead acid type and will fashion some sort of vent/drip hose in case I have the problem again.
I typically get items like this from Auto Zone as it is near my house, I know the staff and have zero problems with refunds of exchanges.
So, bad news is "old school" battery but the good news is I'm driving her in a couple of hours.

That is the same conclusion I came up with last spring. I tried several models of Optima Battery”s and no success. I went back to Interstate.
