Default Targa Top storage bracket rubber inserts

So I ordered up the replacement roof panel storage bracket rubber inserts from Zip Corvette (these) and am really struggling with how in the world to install them.
They are so completely different from the stock ones, and I don't really see how they fit in the bracket. Here's some pictures of them just sitting in there, but I know that's not right.
Any ideas?

Those rubber inserts are for later year C4's which used a different bracket. When I had my 91 I found the newer brackets on ebay and changed them out because the newer style were much better to insert top into. They were hard to find.

Ah, that makes more sense.
Zip was pretty adamant that they would fit, but alas they don't.
Thanks for the help!!

Ah yes - thanks for that!
It turns out my old rubber inserts are in fine shape, they just came unglued and got all bunched up. I believe I'll be able to glue them back in and have them work just fine.
*when* they wear out in the future, I'll upgrade to the new style bracket. Maybe sooner if I just get fed up with these.

I bought a used set on Ebay for $5.00. They worked perfect. Every once in a while, another set pops up for sale.
