So I ordered up a replacement shifter boot from the good folks over at Zip Corvette for my '89. The old boot isn't cracked, but just doesn't look right with the new ****. Unfortunately, the part was mis-labled and the base isn't even close to fitting (picture is new boot in my console cover). They took it back and found out they don't actually have the '89 boots in stock. They also don't know when they'll get more. So....that has me searching for another source. It seems that the '89 was a one-year only style base. The 90-96 boots have a different hole spacing on the front and rear mounts, whereas mine are almost the same. The center-to-center hole dimensions are 3" front, 2-7/8" rear, and 8-7/8 length. The base-plate outside dimensions are 4-1/4" wide by 8-1/2 long.
Any idea where I can get a replacement boot?
Take yours to a local upholstery shop and let them duplicate it in your choice of material. I had a custom console cover made for my C6 for much less than the aftermarket ones.
Looks like that's going to be the best way to go.
I even thought about buying a swatch of black leather and cutting the pattern myself, but not sure that will save me anything in the end.
Time to start reaching out to local upholsters.
Have you asked redlinegoods.com if they make the right boot for your 89? They list the 89 as one of the options on their site.
I just bought one of their boots for my 85 and am pleased with the fit and quality.

RedlineGoods, makes a quality boot. Nice, soft, supple leather, well stitched....it's WAY nicer than the original. I don't usually give props to vendors, but I've tried these guys and it was worth it.

I agree. I ended up ordering two of them for my 85. I ordered a grey one and just didn't like the color contrast.
(Nothing wrong with the color, it was a perfect match to my seats. I just didn't like how it looked. Ended up going with a black boot.)
Both boots are very vell crafted, nice leather, and fit perfectly.
I'll use them again when I get new leather for the steering wheel.
Edited: apparently I only notice my grammatical mistakes after I hit "send".
