I cant figure out whats missing here between the ps pump bracket and the air pump bracket. The airpump bracket has an offset boss for something on the other side. What am i missing?
I can only find a couple of assembled engine pics close that area but I really need to see the connection at the head. Seems like there is a part missing. I believe there are differences between the 85 and 86. The parts book does not show the PS and AIR pump connected in one illustration.
The short boss gets a bolt through it and the upper/inner power strg bracket mount to the cylinder head ... the long boss bolts directly to the cylinder head .
Yes i have those 2 anh they are fine. Its the 3rd one that goes to the power steering pump bracket. The ps pump bracket is flat, the air pump is all different. See the pic for the gap. Its dropped down a bit so its not aligned with the hole.
Sorry it took me so long to answer you. I work Friday, Saturday and Sunday 7a to 7p. I think your solution is about as close as you are going to get. Here's a pic, top down, of my 85 base. It looks to me to be originally a stud.
HTH,
Factory one of those holes where you have that nut was a stud to begin with and it has a nut behind it and that's probably what your alignment problem was and then the nut goes on the outside of the stud
