Hello everyone. First: is there an accessory position in the ignition switch?
second: I would like to add a Transmission cooler to this car. can't quite figure where it could be mounted.
any ideas?
Question 1 Yes instead of rotating clockwise from incert key position rotate counter clockwise, it sometimes takes a bit of jiggling.
Question 2 I have never been a fan of the transmission coolers that push a plastic tab through the radiator but since the C4 has all that plastic in the air dam I would create a bracket that would go from under air box to bottom of air dam. Now why do you feel you need a cooler. Unless you're into racing or dragging a 6000 pound trailer under normal conditions (unless you're in Arizona type temps) and you keep up service it's more asking for for trouble
As far as the accessory side is concerned, I have tried this. I did not want to force thinking it just didn't have it! BUT now that I know it does, I will try again.
As far as the Tranny cooler is concerned. A friend of mine, who builds Transmissions suggested other than contaminated fluids, heat is a killer.
I don't think I'll be towing anything, but "spirited" driving gets that tranny awfully hot. Just a cheap precaution. I do know there is a "cooler"
built into the radiator. Just as an FYI, I did put coolers in other vehicles. Under normal driving conditions, I could hardly touch the cooler with
bare hands. Just had a hard time where figuring to put this thing. the Engine Bay is tight enough! :-]
Not saying Coolers are bad, but I have seen the rubber hoses break down and go soft and a friend of mine put in a cooler and the clamps snapped killed the transmission and there always seems to be wetness by the tie in points

OH,I get it. So far no such problems here. guess I'm lucky?
Highest trans temp I have data logged so far was 180 deg F. This is the only cooling it gets. This radiator doesn't have any trans lines. The cooler I'm using is for a Ford 1 ton truck. Surprisingly the trans coolers on Dodge minivans are the exact same cooler other than the location of the ports. These are 1 inch thick plate coolers. I had an aftermarket fin style cooler before and it didn't work well at all. I mounted this with heavy zip ties and rubber washers. I like mounting them this way instead of the round cable style mounts because the flat zip tie seems to distort the fins on the radiator less.
For the purposes of this question/discussion, does local/recreational auto crossing put enough of a load on either a stock Auto (93 LT1 + auto + 2.59 / 3.07 gears), or one later that will have shift kit and 2500 ish / mild stall convertor? (Where benefit outweighs the hassle/trouble?)

Too many factors to answer that question. The type and size of the converter will play a large part. Also condition of trans, is there a shift kit, your driving style. The only way to know whats going on is with a temp gauge. They don't cost much. You can even rig up a simple temp sensor with an Arduino and a laptop and record your temps while racing and see what it was when you're done for under $20. Then you know if you need a trans cooler. Without a temp reading your just throwing parts and time at it blind.
I have one because the Griffin Racing radiator I installed didn't have any trans cooling. So when I saw my old cooler wasn't getting the job done I grabbed a cooler off of a truck in the junk yard on a $10 bucket sale day. That and I have a modded 4L80e with a 9.5" 3600 stall converter so I knew I would probably need one anyway.

That's SUPER helpful, I will definitely do that thank you!
