Default IAC reset procesure

I know this has been hashed out and I have the procedures. the only thing I am uncertain of is whether or not when I set minimum idle do I need to have the computer wire disconnected or not. I've searched around and can't find a straight answer on it but I'm having trouble with a high idle and everything on the car is new and there are no vacuum leaks 100% sure. The only other thing I can think of is something's wrong with the throttle body which boggles my mind, but I guess it's possible I have a new prom I can burn and replace the prom chip just in case that could be the issue but that's going to be my last resort at this point. To disconnect or not disconnect? that is the question

Idk what computer wire you are referring to. There's a jumper on the ALDL between A-B and there's the connector on the IAC itself. These are the only 2 things that I'm aware of that needs to be disconnected but you need to follow the proper time/sequence.

update. i put new head gaskets on the car and fixed all of the vacuum hoses. i was having a high idle before the gaskets, but was suspect of a vacuum leak. My fans are not working either, but will come on when i jumper them direct. i did the iac reset and left the "timing wire" from the distributor to the ecu plugged in. got base idle set. the previous owner had made changes there and that what i was trying to figure out. my idle #'s were not making sense to me as the only changes i've made were long tube headers and deleted all the air emissions. i haven't wired in a 3 wire o2 sensor yet so i expect to see my #'s a hair bit off to the lean side at idle but my iac counts were way off...like 0 to 5. my idle was hanging at 1200...manual car. So, i reset the iac, adjusted base idle back to around 550 and its perfect now as far as idle and iac counts. now i have determined the prom or something in the ECU is not right because the fans wont come on. I jumpered A and B on the ALDL but i get nothing. I've spent the last 2 hours testing the temp sensor and the fans making sure all else is right before i pulled the prom to burn a new on. what i have found was the original prom, so off to tuning land i go. I appreciate the responses.

When you jumper a and b terminals the check engine light flashes. Fans should come on and don't. I tested for power all the way to the fans and they come on. I had to jumper both relays. My relays may be bad, but I'm having other issues with idle and weird errors on dash so I have 2 new chips 27sf512's. I am turning the fans on sooner deleting EGR...might kill vats and put in a push button start. I have a hidden dead man's switch in the car so vats delete isn't an issue for theft.
