Default Vapor canister relocation

How involved of a process would it be to relocate the charcoal canister to the rear like in the LT cars?

I'd think it's considerably more effort than a person might anticipate.

Why would you want to?

To clear up as much room as possible for future turbo application.

I still would not want to do it, but I like the way you think

Why do you need a charcoal canister if you are making a major modification such as a turbo? I'm thinking that you would disconnect, plug up, remove and install your turbo.

You can remove the charcoal canister. I did on my 85.
However: what are you planning on needing that space for? The intercooler in my 85 is in front of the radiator and I could have kept the canister. (In fact, I may put it back in.) It wouldn't have been in the way of the charge to intercooler piping the way that I routed it.

I was thinking of running the charge pipe through there or the air filter. Just trying to see how much space I can free up and where components can be relocated to, provided it doesn’t turn into a fiasco

Brandon, your twin turbo project will make your emission system irrelevant. Remove everything and enjoy the space.

While it's very difficult to see as I painted it black, the charge piping is closer to the rear than the front of the area in front of the wheel. The canister (at least on an 85) is in the front of this space. I doubt it would be in the way. The bigger concern is going to be the passenger side where the coolant overflow tank is.

Also: just turbocharging the car won't make the emissions items "irrelevant". You will have to change things about your PCV system as it isn't designed for boost pressure in the manifold and intake piping as it is in stock form. Callaway left the emissions items in place in the B2K cars. Procharger kits wouldn't be allowed in the Republik of CA if emissions components (including that charcoal canister) had to be removed for boost.
