I've finally got the money to work on this when I also have the time. Minor miracle, that. I was able to borrow an o-scope from a friend at work, and found that I lose the square wave from the opti when the car is not running. Whatever else may or may not be defective, it seems that I definitely have a bad opti on my hands. Per Tom400ci, it looks like I'm likely dealing with a bad oil pressure switch as well, so I'll be replacing that as well.
I'll be replacing the water pump and the timing chain, spark plug wires and plugs, valve cover gaskets, and at least one other thing while I'm doing this. Just wondering if I'm forgetting anything.

Opinions, anybody? Does a loss of the square wave definitely equal a bad Opti? I can't think of anything else that would cause it, but don't want to waste large amounts of money without at least asking first.
