I did a burnout in a parking lot after work and when I started heading home I heard a boom come from my rear wheels and tons of smoke started coming out. naturally I pulled over and checked out my wheels and I had thought my tire had blown out but my tires where all good. I continued home but I noticed that every time I would brake I would hear a grinding noise and my car would shake. I could still brake enough to nurse my car home but I can't figure out what happened. I took a quick peak at the front of my brake calipers and they look fine, can anyone help me figure out what happened? The engine sounds fine and it idles good.
Clearly this is in your caliper assembly. As above, take it apart and inspect. It could be anything from a pad to loose bolts on the caliper.
I one had a rear caliper bolt come loose enough to have the caliper touch the wheel when braking. All sorts of noise. I got home and took off the wheel and there it was. I tightened the bolt and no more issue. Hope yours goes as easy.

I checked my front brake calipers, and one of the bolts holding the caliper bracket to the spindle was completely gone, the entire caliper was crooked. i'm having an issued finding the right size bolt to replace it. do you know the bolt size? because i cant find it anywhere.

Buy local from a bolt store. Why give Ebay the business - it's a BOLT. Try an M14X2X47.
I'll give you a couple "why not's". Are you going to suggest that GM makes its own bolts, therefore a "factory" one is better? LOL. Secondly, his car is presently sitting and there is no indication he has an alternate ride to work. Maybe he does and maybe he doesn't. You tell me what is more beneficial to him if this is his lone transportation to work - place an order with Ebay and patiently sit beside the mailbox or go to a local supplier and be driving in short order.
I'd rather a used factory bolt for something critical, like brakes, than hardware store. Non important stuff sure.
See above post. At what point did I say "hardware store"? I said bolt supply!! You seem to be unfamiliar with such an establishment so I will help you out. In my area we have an outlet called "The Bolt Supply House". They specialize in any type of bolt know to mankind from the smallest to 2" and larger diameter for industrial use. Would you call this a "hardware store"?
