Battery or alternator??

I’m posting this for a lady friend. She states: 1996 corvette convertible. Limited edition. her battery was dead so she had AAA come to give her a boost. Car starts with boost but noticed a wire off of the alternator. When wire is connected to alternator car will not start with boost. Can someone please tell what’s the problem???

Most likely the alternator has failed, should be removed and tested at a auto parts store.

Too little information for anything but general troubleshooting.
Consider searching the C4 tech area in case it's a known issue with that generation.
