Yesterday, I went to start my '93 40th Anniversay Ruby after sitting for two months and had a dead battery. Battery is six months old and when I placed the charger on I had crossed the positive and negative terminals. After correctly charging the battery, I started the 'Vette with no problems until I noticed the power seats did not work. I opened the fuse panel and the circuit fuse for the power seats was burning hot. After removing the fuse (circuit breaker) and melting my fingers I tried to replace the fuse, but all it get is sparks from the fuse and it heats up. I had no idea a 30amp fuse could get so hot. All of my other electric components work fine with the exception of the power seats and there are no problem codes or lights on the DIC.I have both 1993 Corvette Service Manuals and read the Electrical Diagnosis for the Power Seats section. The sympton table does not go into detail with any troubleshooting hints for this problem. Further, my Power Door locks and PKE work fine. Before I make an appointment after the spring thaw with the local Corvette specialist ($$$), has anyone else experienced this problem and what would be the solution. Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Mark
These symptoms don't compute....if your power door locks operate, the seat power circuit breaker is OK. Since you have some time to trouble shoot this problem, here is a link for a GM manual that provides the necessary trouble shooting ($35). I am aware you have manuals, but you write that they don't provide diagnosis detail. This manual will: http://www.factoryautomanuals.com/

I thought the same thing about the door locks since the Manual says the power door locks will not function without the circuit breaker, but believe me the circuit breaker is out and the power door locks and PKE work. I have the factory manuals, but there is no mention of this problem. Thanks for the advice.

The link for the manual I provided has 12 pages for power-seat trouble-shooting, including repairing a short to ground, that may be your problem.
I read the 12 pages for power seat trouble shooting and could not find my symptons, but I will try the ground solution that was in the service manual. It is located behind the passenger side kick panel and does not seem too difficult to try. If that does not work I may leave it to a pro with the proper electric testing equipment unless someone has any other advice. Oldman, thanks for your help.
