I just got a set of Holley Retro Bright LED headlights for my '89. They are night and day in comparison to the 34 year old sealed beam halogens. However, my fog lights are now extremely dim as well as the high/low beam switch is controlled by using the fog light switch. I tried the circuit doctor mod and it didn't work. Has anyone on here found a fix for this problem? Apparently the '89 had a different wiring system than previous years and the 90-96 cars. Any insight at all would be greatly appreciated.
Bump for fellow 89 owner that has been wondering about this!
My understanding is that the 89 needs a fix similar to the circuit doctor one but not identical because the wiring for the 89 fogs and brights is unique to that year?
My car is a 1985 but has an 88+ lighting harness for some reason.
What I did was just remove the ground legs of the foglight circuit from splice 126 and just put the left foglight ground to G115 (LH frame horn) and the right foglight ground to G116.
This will mean the foglights will stay on even if highbeams are on. I don't see that as an issue but something to be aware of.
