Differential Propeller Yoke Question
I received a rebuilt Dana 36 with 3.54 gears from zip and have got most of it installed all except the propeller shaft to the differential yoke. I broke a bolt when tightening the retaining clips to torque specifications in the field manual. I have a spare propeller yoke and I am wondering if I can remove the one with the broken bolt in it and put in my spare without removing the differential? Will this cause the pinion to fall within the case?

You can change the differential yoke on the car. You may need an impact gun to get it off though. And when retightening the nut, you have to know what you are doing,because you can change the pinion bearing preload.If you aren't familiar with differentials, it might be easier to just drill and retap the broken bolt.

Just go buy your self a set of quality easy out's. Take your time and extract the broken bolt. Worst case is you would need to install a helicoil.

Dana 36 should have shims on the pinion, at least mine did. Don't think there should be a preload change as long on pinion nut is retorqued to correct value. If it used a crush sleeve then things would change. Took mine apart and put back together, hasn't run yet, but am not expecting any problems.
