Re: Do I need a new window motor? (JamesHolleyByGolly)
Well, when the driver side window motor when out on my '95, it just quit outright, no warning. Working fine one moment, then BAM. No more window movement. Just my $0.02 worth.

My '85 is like that too. I even ordered a new motor. I later had the door panels off and discovered that the driver door had been conveeted to the later model regulater while the passenger side is still the old ribbon type. I guess it makes sense that the driver side would wear out and be replaced first. Some day I will replace the passenger side.

Mine was doing that so I took the motors apart. I used metal polish to clean the armature contacts and make them really shiny. I also had to remove rust from the window ribbon track and lubed it all up with wheel bearing grease. They work pretty smoothly and fairly fast now.

Re: Do I need a new window motor? (_freakmonkeydogboy_)
My driver side went out with no warning so I purchased a new one. I cannot remember the cost but I think it was approx. $40.00. It was not that hard to put in. The new motor will come with bolts. You have to drill the rivets out to take old motor off and the bolts go in the place of the rivets. There is one bolt you cannot get to so I had to use a rivet gun to replace that bolt. So keep rivet gun handy. Hope this helps.
