I have a 1994 C4 that does not want to start. It always popped off right away and last year it would spin over a few times before it would start when the engine was warm.. First cold start it would still pop right off.
Now it will not fire. I tried starting fluid and it would start and die. I put the fuel pressure gauge on it and it does not register any pressure. Seems like a fuel pump to me. The car has 60,000 miles.
It’s not hard to remove. Pull it and hook 12 volts to it and see if it runs. You can also check the screen as well. I just finished mine on my ‘96 and it’s a quick change out, less than an hour.
Apologies for (sort of) hijacking the thread. My 95 is having issues starting, and I’m thinking I have a pump issue. Key on, not running, pressure goes to about 42 psi, then after 3 seconds, when priming stops, pressure drops immediately to around 5 psi or less. I’ve read that there is a check valve (ball) in the pump to keep pressure up. Is there a way to diagnose this issue?
When I do get the car to start, pressure is about 32 psi steady. It idles rough, and misfires during acceleration. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

You need 40 psi at idle and 44 or there abouts when opening the thottle.
Change the fuel filter and see what you get.
