Guess it was pretty cold last night because this morning when i went to unlock the drivers side door with the key the thing just snapped off in a heartbeat :banghead: So now WTH do I do??
If so, you can take a little drip of crazy glue on the end of the broken piece of the key in your hand. Put a tiny drop on the end and touch it to the broken piece of key stuck in the lock. Hold the key in place for 30 seconds or so (what ever the cure time is on the crazy glue) and then just slide the broken piece of key back out.
Now you must only use a small drop. You also have to be able to see the broken key. You don't want to get super glue in the lock or you'll be buying a new lock too.
Probably a dumb suggestion, but it wouldn't cost anything to try.
When it thaws out, squirt a little WD-40 or something similar in the keyhole. Then try using a shop vacuum (preferably the Binford 6000 8 hp Super Sucker) to whuuuup the stub outa the lock.
When that fails, remove the lock and bang it on a two by four until the key is sticking out far enough to grab.
do i have to think of everything.....ok i would get some JB Coldweld and then get the key that broke and dab just a little on the end of the broken key in hand and carefully put back in the door and press against the broken key let dry and then pull that bad boy out but make sure you dont get the coldweld on the inner door lock then you are done and screwed!
that's what i would do!
