Does anyone know if there is any shims on a '89's starter?
The Haynes manual doesn't show any, but my '89 Chevy Corvette service manual shows that there is one.
Don't recall taking them off and besides, can't find them.
Thanks
i think its if you need them thing with some variables depending on wear and brand of starter and they are not always the same number of shims. i just kept doing trial and error until i got it right
Well ya know on further investigtion, the detail that I saw also explained what the use of the shim was for. There is 2 diferent sizes with GM numbers to correct "noises". The diagram that was shown of the starter was the only one and it showed shims.
Sooooo I presumed (not assumed) that it was to have it.
The service manual GM) went on to say to use sealant.
