I asked in another section but no response. Are you replacing because of failure or just prevent maintenance? I have the manifold off and I read somewhere, just replace while there. Car has 17k miles (93 lt1).
I can get a part that claims to be AC Delco for $40.
I replaced because I’m a clod and broke the connector housing when I pulled the motor. 🤣🤣😂. Are you sure you’re replacing the temp sensor, it is located on the side of the block just above the oil filter. The oil pressure switch is located just behind the intake manifold. If you have the intake off, I could see replacing the oil pressure switch to avoid an oil leak 👍.
Most of these type are recommended not to use additional sealer because the sensor grounds through the body of itself unless it's a type with more wires and has a ground wire. Most come coated too and in practice I haven't noticed problems with sealants. The top of the thread is still bare.
Curious about what part of used to replace the oil temperature sensor. I installed a brand new oil temperature sensor in my 1991 and the gauge still doesn't read correctly.
