Bad MAF causing no-start?

Bad MAF causing no-start?
New to me 85 with 105k miles.
Car ran great for about two days (go figure) then started occasionally sputtering at low idle. Quickly progressed to sputtering and shutting down while driving but would start back up. Two days ago it died as I pulled into a parking lot and refused to restart. Had to get it towed home and now it’s in my garage.
Used a paper clip to pull codes and 33 and 34. Both codes revolve around the MAF, MAF relay, etc.
The idle and dying make sense but will a bad MAF (or something related) cause it not to start?
