Hello there
I have an 86 with a 1227165 ECM from which i couldn't get data from ALDL, and is showing MPG calculation very rarely on the dash. From my understanding the two issues might be related. The rest of the electronics is running fine.
Last summer i teared down the whole instrument panel carrier to clean the car, and i took the chance to inspect cabling to check if i had some bad connection. I've inspected the A8 orange cable on the ECM which connects to both digital dash D10 and the E pin of ALDL port, and continuity is ok, even if i move the cable.
When i reassembled the car i checked again voltage between E (data) and A (ground) pin of ALDL connector with engine running but i always get 0V, where it should be varying from 2.5V to 4.0V.
May i kindly ask you if you have any suggestion on what additional part can i check, apart from replacing ECM?
I posted a thread some time ago over my recently obtained 1984 not flashing codes with the ALDL jumped so watching this one. Bump
I can get codes by shortening A and B, but I don't get data over E pin, so i believe it's a different issue. Did you check continuity for A and B? Factory service manual has all the schematics. If you need i can provide the schema.

No I haven't but can check later. tbh the ECUs for CFI Corvettes on ebay are becoming less available and more expensive so unless other model ECUs are swappable am considering a change to carb or aftermarket TBI.
@tequilaboy I just saw you write on a similar thread about data on ALDL, so I wonder if you could help me as well
May i kindly ask you what do you suggest to check if I don't get MPG on dash? I'm talking about your question of "Does the average/instantaneous fuel consumption display work during normal driving?"
