High stall converter ??

High stall converter ??
Since my trans blew up I am wanting to do some upgrades. I currently have a 1993 A4 car with 2.59 rear gears. I am looking at purchasing a D44 with 3.73s in it, and putting in a higher stall converter when my transmission gets rebuilt.
I can’t seem to find a brand anyone recommends that’s costs less than $1000… I am a college student and on a budget. Am I better off just sticking with a stock stall converter from the transmission rebuilder? Or does anyone have recommendations for a 2800-3200 stall converter that won’t break the bank?
