horn not working!

horn not working?
got a 1985 Corvette and the horns work but the button only works if the steering wheel is turned and not pointing straight. I took the steering wheel off and made the connection with just a wire and still has the same problem... only works if it's not straight. I noticed this problem after the car sat outside for 2 years. could moisture have corroded anything? any ideas?

You need to take the steering wheel lock plate off and check the canceling cam and contact at the turn signal switch it possible there is some corrosion on the canceling cam surface..
