Hello.
I have an 84 with auto. No check engine light but a code 42. I picked up an ECM at a swap meet for cheap. What number on the ECM will tell me what it will fit? The service number says 84 Corvette but I’m not sure of the other numbers. THANKS.

1226026 should be the number for 84 Corvette. Googling the number you show, it says for Buick, Cadillac.

How do you know it's the ECM and not something else? Do you have an 84 GM service manual and have gone through the troubleshooting tree for wiring issue for a code 42? If not, you need to get a manual before spending lots of cash for nothing, jus sayin'.
The BHM and the 16028311 seems to indicate it was OE to an '84 'J body GM'. The service number would fir several GM likely BUT an 84 Corvette isn't one of them. '84 Corvette I believe the service number would be different for an AT and a MT 4+3 car. That one you picked up won't do squat for your car.
Thanks for the help. Not 100% sure the ECM is the problem. According to the MT2055 and research the issue could be the ECM, Ignition module, or ECM ground........

If you still do not have a GM manual, get one and you can troubleshoot the issue properly.
