Well, I managed to set it and it is now stuck on the vehicle. What did I bork up here on my end? I doubt the previous owner used it much, if ever. I can only guess the shoes have seized to the hat inside the rear rotors, but hoping you guys have something up your collective sleeves to help me out.
Let's start with basic questions, year since you said parking brake drum it must be an Early year which you get to cheat on releasing the brake by just pushing the button and in a perfect world it should give a Pop, Did it release inside side
If it popped inside (or at least released a little tension) if it did try rocking forward a back to unstick it, hopefully it will get it to roll so you can get it lubed up a work it free enough to get the Rotor/Drum off and clean and service it
Well, I figured that is how they work. I do not have a service manual yet and the owners manual was lost. 08/89 is my build date. Am I missing how the e-brake works on the C4? My old C5 was simple as are all my other vehicles.
You have a later model C-4 parking brake, many new owners have a problem. With the later model to release brake Raise the lever put tension on the cable at the same time push the button that will disengage the ratchet from the teeth and the cable will release with the handle going back down to the rest position
Ah, well... it is released now. Then I did it a few more times to verify operation, seems fine. Good design so one does not poke themselves in the backdoor by accident with the lever!
