This is a rubber? part that clearly has fallen apart due to age outlined in red. Its obviously part of the HVAC system and I can feel air coming out of it when I turn on my AC's fan. The line connects to the accumulator drier but I cannot seem to find this specific rubber part to buy? Also would anyone know how much it would cost to get fixed or how difficult it would be to get fixed by myself? This is on a 96 auto base.
I don't have a '96, but isn't that just black mastic sealant goop packed in a donut/ring shape around that gap to fill it? If you go to a shop that does car air conditioning work they will probably just do it for you or sell you a small bit to pack it on.
Uh.. youre probably right? This is my first time like running into this thing and it it is very soft, as you can see in the image, I picked at it a bit and thats how its in it's current half donut state.
Look up butyl sealant on Amazon. There is some around the high pressure line where it enters the evaporator as well. I placed some around my heater core inlet and outlet as well. Very useful to have around. Doesn’t harden doesn’t dry out.
