Default L98 Intake Questions

Hey guys, I've been looking into upgrading my 89 vette. It has an l98 with a 6-speed. I've been thinking of doing cams, but people say to first do heads. Then when I think about doing heads, people will tell you to port your plenum and upgrade your intake.

I'm a little confused on the intake side of these cars. I've always been an I6 or I4 guy so this v configuration is new to me. My question is what does the plenum and runners have to do with the intake manifold? If I wanted to add more power how could I open up airflow to the engine?

I ported and polished upper and lower and took off as much as I could in the runners. Also a larger throttle body. The secret is as much air in and air out

the intake is the whole assembly base runners plenum all thee pieces are restricted and part of the intake manifold, you can port the stock pieces, upgrade the stock pieces to aftermarket bigger pieces, change intakes entirely with a mini ram or super ram

Thanks for all the quick replies. I’ve heard of a super and mini ram intake before. I think I’d go that route due to it being a whole assembly.

Now is my fueling going to be a bottleneck? Should I go for 24lb injectors and an upgraded fuel pump?

As for the cams, I’m unsure of a specific spec. And combining that with Valve springs I think I’d be in for a math lesson. Maybe there is an article out there that can fill me in lol
