Default Crossfire Injectors

I’m sure this has been asked a lot, but I am new to the car/vette world.

I recently bought an 84 that appears to have nothing updated on the crossfire. It’s been having some running issues…has a very low idle (6-7 rpms) and kind of sputters when I first drive it.

After some research I’ve seen some videos where you can replace the injectors and / or do the repair kit route. My question being, if nothing in the crossfire has been replaced (140k on the car) should I just replace both injectors and buy the rebuild kit for the gaskets/o rings. Or should I just start with the rebuild kit and buy injectors if the problems don’t go away?

again I apologize if this is a dumb question. Just trying to learn and get familiar with the components.

thank you!

If you have a dial back timing light, an easy way to check the injectors would be to start the car and adjust the light while aiming at the spray pattern until it about freezes... it should be a nice conical pattern on both. If you see that, I wouldn't worry about the injectors... the TBI injectors tend to be pretty robust. From there I would check for vacuum leaks and do the rebuild on the pods themselves and check and set fuel pressure...

Hey mate, make sure to ajust the tps, its supose to be at .525, make shure to change both fuel filter, one in the gas tank and the other on pasenger side near exaust headers. Do not change the injectors if they dont leak when its not running.
