In my 85 Z-51 4+3, I did a 500 mile trip yesterday and today. There's less than 100k miles on this car, and it has 17" American Racing mags with Continental Extreme Contact tires, one year old. I'm in Canada, and drove mostly on the highway, doing 79 MPH almost all the way. Just under radar trap speed. Damn, the car felt so good, drove great, and it was even getting great fuel mileage. Nice and smooth, and good acceleration, except... Under full throttle acceleration in second and third, I noticed a hard shake that seems to come from the chassis. Not a front end shake, and it felt good when driving at almost 80. It's the hard acceleration that makes it shake. I've changed all fluids this year, including putting Lucas Synthetic 75W90 oil in the transmission and differential. The transmission has never shifted so well, and the limited slip rear end functions perfectly.
The OD unit got a new filter and Dexron 2 and works great. I know it's no BMW, and there is some degree of vibration but this is much more than that. I'm wondering about half-shaft u-joints? Any ideas?
I don't think it is speed related more likely RPM and Vibration Residence. It looks like you have a aftermarket exhaust go through it make sure you have all joints tight and mount points secure and preferably rubber insulated.
If that didn't work look at the Ignition system, maybe the coil isn't liking upper RPMs
No, it was only during heavy throttle acceleration. I didn't think it was really engine related, but more somewhere else in the drivetrain. The engine is running just too well right now for me to suspect it.

I have that same issue, and to me it feels like an engine vibration. I took the Frisbee off, and im wondering if that is why.
