I had noticed the emergency brake not "catching" every time when I pulled it up. I would sometimes have to give it several pulls before it would engage. While I had the seat out to install my new Wet Okole set covers, I went ahead and removed the e-brake handle assembly. It is an assembly and does not appear to be able to be dissembled. It was "gooey" from 8 years of carpet dust and whatever falls down between the seat and door. I sprayed it well with WD-40 and blew it out with air. It now works great. As I pull up on the handle, there is the of each tooth on the ratchet.
However, here is my question. The handle used to have some resistance to being pushed back down. When I pulled it up, the handle would stay there until I pushed it back down. Now it will fall down by itself. I have never had a new vette, so is I don't know what it should feel like new. It just seems so loose that I am wondering if it will rattle when I'm driving.
BTW, I'll tell you how much I like the Wet Okole's later this sujmer when its 103 degrees here in Texas.
hi,did you check to see if all of your cables are not rusted and that they move ez.spray some wd40 on all of your cables and you might also need a slight adjustment on your parking brake.good luck,greg84
