OBD2 not working

OBD2 not working
This is my question. I have bought this 96 Corvette low miles Just noticed the service engine light came on went to AutoZone had them connect their scanner not powering on. Read some forms checked my fuses .all fuses are working properly none of them burned out. Are there any other suggestions on how to get power to run the OBD2 scanner. I thought it was a cigarette lighter cuz I wasn't getting any power . pulled the console plugged it back in still no power. No power to interior lights but the ones behind the seats they cut the sockets out.

Spitballing, but it could be their scanner. I know some folks have had issues with some scanners on the 96 OBD2 port. I have a cheap scanner that works on mine, but there have been threads here where folks have reported trouble reading codes.
Try using a paperclip and jumping the ports to read codes on the dash. Lots of threads on that.
