air filter water deflecter

air filter water deflecter

i have an 86 that i just purchased the air filter water defecter. Has anyone ever installed this? Directions are not very clear. Do I remove air filter box or insatll it under the front of the car were the air enters the radiater

it is just a flat peice that is suppose to slip on

I think these deflectors came standard on 87+ Corvettes? Mid America sells them cheap, but you probably don't even need it.

I put one on my 85. Its sort of trial and error. You have to remove the air filter & snorkel assembly to install it. It sort of fits vertically into the " X " brace area between the hood hinges, does a right angle bend and gets clamped under the snorkel when its reinstalled.
I know its a crappy explaination but I can't get to the car to take any pics. The best thing to remember is you are trying to deflect the little bit of water that might get thru the gap between the top lead edge of the air tunnel for the rad and the underside of the bumper. If you put a light under the front of the car and look in from the engine side with the snorkel removed you will see the gap. Hope this helps a bit. Good Luck.
