It started as a little slipping in 1st under hard accelleration and has worsened. I would guess it is just a worn disc, any other thoughts?
Also, what else has to be replaced to keep the car happy. Pressure plate, TO bearing, pilot bushing.... This car is basically just a spirited daily driver.
Well, I can't answer your queston. BUT, I was wondering how many miles you got out of her on the present (original?) clutch.
Jim
Unfortunately, I am the third owner and have no idea if it has been replaced before. I would doubt it but one never knows. If it means anything the car has 115K on it.
Any other ideas as to where to get the clutch kit for as low cost as possible? I emailed the company noted above as to whether or not they have kits for L98s and they have yet to respond.
You should replace the pressure plate, throwout bearing and pilot bushing along with the clutch.
Pray that the flywheel is OK. According to GM, the dual mass flywheel shouldn't be resurfaced, it has to be replaced. It's ~$900. I'm still recovering from that repair bill. :cry
Besides the clutch plate, pressure plate and throwout bearing it is a relatively minor add on to replace the rear main seal. At 115k it would be a good idea.
Sounds like the stock clutch will work for you again. Try Jeff Kopp, parts@superchevyperformance.com
I just got my McLeod clutch delivered today from Chris at SpeedDemonMotorsports.
